We transform men and women into expert IT engineers.

Our program’s story begins with the U.S. military.  They operate some the most complex enterprise-class networks in the world.  With their data centers in constant motion, often isolated and under continual cyber threat, they have all of industry’s issues, and then some.

The military needs more than just technicians who are dependent on google-search and vendor support; they need highly competent Systems and Network engineers, a rare commodity.  Instead of competing with industry for talent, they set out to create their own.

As the solution, they recreated Top Gun, but for Information Technology.  Top Gun was the brilliant response to losing far too many pilots and planes in aerial combat over Vietnam.  By training pilots under real stress, forcing them to make critical, just-in-time decisions, Top Gun successfully produced the best pilots in the world, immediately combat ready.  The outcomes were unarguable, stunning, and America again dominated the skies.

DARPA and the US Navy, working with Acuitus, spent ten years creating the Top Gun equivalent for Information Technology training, producing men and women who are immediately among the best IT experts in the world,  “combat-ready” and able to step into any server room and solve the hardest problems quickly, without need for outside support.  Through years of wargames and real-world challenges, the graduates are demonstrably ten times better at solving the hardest problems quickly.  As exhaustively documented and proven by the Pentagon, again, the results are stunning.

These results translate directly to the commercial industry.  The military, like industry, uses the same infrastructure – same servers, same networking gear, same operating systems and virtualization software — although the technical problems facing the military are often more challenging.

In today’s world, we cannot afford IT technicians who lean heavily on google-search, who memorized their way through fact-heavy certifications, or who learned IT administration through random, ad hoc experience.  We need IT experts who deeply understand the ideas that make managing and evolving information systems so challenging, who know how to think deeply, learn quickly, adapt rapidly and anticipate where their infrastructure is vulnerable and what is going to go wrong.

The result?  The men and women of our program are truly exceptional.
